Basketball Rumor Abounds!

A moment of silence for the end of the Football season. …

Now, bring on the NBA!

On top of many more NBA games left to watch and the much anticipated All Star weekend ahead, rumors of trades are consuming ESPN’s switchboards.

The main running headline is that of Caramelo Anthony and the teams that want him.  Both the Knicks and Mavericks claim they want Melo. But my suspicion is that their only interested in renting him for the rest of the season. Both teams could use Melo’s skill and passion for the game out on the court. Both teams, however, would have to give up some pretty decent players in order to entice the Nuggets into such a trade.

Rumor has it that the Lakers want Melo too. All they would need to do is trade their center Bynum. But that’s gonna be up to the Lakers GM and The Black Mamba, Kobe Bryant, the main influence on the team.  “Might as well believe in UFO’s” appears to be Bryant’s opinion on the matter, but we’ll see. The pattern throughout the seasons has been that the Lakers would trade and such. A fellow fan like me can only hope that those rumors become a reality this time! Can you imagine?!! The Lakers would be unstoppable with Melo in their midst. Ponder over that my friends.  If the Lakers were to actually pick up Melo, they’d have the two leading scorers in the NBA.  I say we Lakers fans get together and pray our pant-knees off for this trade! No offense to Bynum, but we need Melo. Come on Bynum, take one for the team!

Many people that I talk to criticize Pro Basketball because a lot of players have no dedication to their teams and care more about the money. But seriously, money is what runs things my friends. Few are those that would turn down a pay raise. Plus, a guy like me thrives on the drama of anticipation, possibility, and what ifs.  You can never be too sure what kind of AMAZING is going to happen. I say bring it on.

BRING ON THE AMAZING.

Not over Super Bowl fever

Man, I'm still trying to get over the amazing time we had last night! With all the great food and company and an exciting game, you can't ask for more. Was that game a close one, or what???

I was on the edge of my seat watching this game go back and forth, one finger pointing at the tv, yelling at the bad calls, and the other hand occupied stuffing my face LOL.  Even though the Steelers never stood a chance (thank God), I'm still very glad that the Green Bay Packers won the SuperBowl game. (Yes, I HATE the Steelers, and I just can't put my finger on why).

Aaron Rodgers was on fire turning over the ball and just staying posed in the pocket. No wonder he was awarded the MVP trophy. What threw me over the edge though was that new convertible Camero. Come on really?! Give it to me!! I don't know how he could just stand there and accept the trophy. Dude, let them keep the trophy and you get in that beauty!! Shoot, I would have been all over the car HA HA. Man, not only do they get paid the big bucks, but on top of it they get a new car????  Give me a car!

Over all though, this was a perfect Super Bowl experience.  The first with my girl and we'll never forget it!

Super Bowl Sunday!

Just came back from church and now we're all getting ready for one of the biggest games of the year,  the SuperBowl.  I love SuperBowl Sundays!

Throwing our first SuperBowl party ever, and I'm thinking it's gonna be pretty sweet. Trash talking will definitely start the minute everyone gets here.Oh man, I can't wait. The Packers better kick some Steamers butt.
I'm thinking a score of 24-20.

There are too many things to do to get ready. I've been commissioned to hit the grocery store to pick up chips, salsa, Pepsi, Coke, and of course a few veggy and fruit trays. After all that fun stuff is done, I'll willingly do what I can to help my girl finish cooking and cleaning, set-up the table and lay out all the good stuff. I mean, come on! Can't let her do all the work, especially when she's gonna be yelling and throwing more food at the T.V. than I will LOL

It's gonna be a full house today!
Let's see what happens!!

NBA Road teams get another win

Hello again friends. The last two nights have sure been crazy!

The Mavs took the Knicks by storm last night.  Douglas, Stoudemire, Gallinari  each scored 20 pts, but it still wasn’t enough to stop Nowitski from adding a double and double and scoring 29pts. With a score of 113-97, there’s no question the Mavs got some good rest there in New York.

Thunder took the season series last night with a 104-93 win against the Hornets.  Durant stole the show with 43 pts, shooting 14-of-19.

And yeah, I didn’t want to but I had to check out the Blazer game too. Nuggets took care of home court by beating Blazers 109-90. Nene came away with 22pts and 10 boards, and Anthony and Billups scored 40 pts combined

Tonight, my girl and I yelled at the T.V. as Orlando failed to stop Miami and Lebron James.  They fought back and fourth during the first quarter while Lebron  James hit his first 11 shots and finished the first quarter with 23 pts.  Wade woke up when he came up from behind and blocked Howard’s dunk, helping Miami gain a run of 6 strait pts. Orlando got their chance at a run when Howard accepted a pass from Richardson, but it wasn’t enough to bridge Miami’s 10-pt lead at the end of the 2nd quarter. James ended up scoring more than half of Miami’s 55 pts the 1st half and shot 12-14 from the field. I couldn’t help beating the pillow next to me in frustration during the 2nd half when Miami decided to play the perimeter defense.  Ridiculous move for them considering Howard is Orlando’s deadliest weapon inside the key.  Orlando fought hard to take advantage of this move and narrowed a 23 pt gap down to 6 pts. Unfortunately, they couldn’t stop Lebron  James from scoring 51 pts, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists. Game ended at a close 104-100, causing Orlando to fall to a record 31-19. Maybe they can pick up the slack when they take on the Wizards this coming Friday night. Miami will also get their chance to bring their record to 36-14 when they visit Charlotte Bobcats that same night.

My Lakers sure did put up a good fight tonight. Both teams started off clumsy and neither team could hold the ball during the 1st quarter, causing it to end at a measly 22-18. Fisher and Artest helped the Lakers steal their way to the lead the 2nd quarter. But that moment of victory was short lived when Ginoboli and his off-balance shot took him to the free throw line to tie the game to 42-42. Both defenses tightened up as Parker drove everywhere and Kobe hit running jump shot after running jump shot. But the Black Mamba couldn’t keep the Lakers from trailing by 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter.  If my mother could have heard me during the last quarter, she’d have me eating soap for a week! Both teams attacked the rim like crazy, but lady luck must have been smiling down on the Spurs (who knows why!!) as Duncan shot and missed the ball only to have McDyess second tip right at the buzzer, bringing the final score to 89-88. Spurs will try to bring their record 42-8 when the face the Kings this Saturday. And as for my boys, I’m praying they can bring their record to a 33-16 when they face New Orleans and Chris Paul.

Alright, time to get some sleep! Let's hope from some more Amazing tomorrow night.

Glued to the TV tonight!

Welcome back friends! Hope you were able to catch some of those games last night. 2-1 predictions is not bad for a guy like me not sitting behind ESPN's desk.

I was utterly shocked that the Spurs lost to the Blazers. What was that???? An easy game, and they blew it!! Blazers would be a Red Hot team of wins if Aldridge could score 40+ pts every game. Wonder if it would work to recite the State Farm jingle before each game. They could definitely use a "Good Neighbor" about now. Celtics took care of business and defeated the Kings 95-90. This team is on a role, and I look forward to seeing what their going to do. And my Lakers? They sure did it again! Lamar had a double-double with 22 pts and 20 rebounds. Kobe struck again and also helped his teammates snap a 4-game losing streak. Wonder if their working on striving for a new championship ring.

Tonight is another night for something amazing to happen. OKC Thunder takes on the Hornets at home. Even though the Thunder has home court advantage, I think the Hornets are going win this one. Chris Paul can drop dimes! He'll lead this team to win today with a 109-104 score. I'm also hoping the MAVS got some good rest somewhere nice in New York because their taking on the Knicks tonight. This is going to be a good game to watch. I predict the final score will be 115-101.

Tell you what my friends, if these games turn out as good as I think they will, I'm hitting the local Green tomorrow.  There's a great little Golf Course just up the highway, Cross Creek Golf Course that's perfect for a golfer like me. If you guys know of any other good courses around the Portland/Salem area, let me know. Oh, and I'm always open to Golf tips! Lord knows I could use some help with my swing.

Alright amigos, that's all for now.  You all sit back and relax, enjoy your evening, watch some good games and on commercial breaks help me think of some Super Bowl party ideas. I'm in charge of the food...thinking of Pepsi, chips and salsa? Yeah, that's not enough lol Guess I'll just have to hit Walmart or Winco and fill up a cart with whatever I see!

Basketball Fan 4 EVER!

Well another day in sports has come and gone, but the anticipations of the future are now present. The Los Angeles Lakers are now 1-5 against teams that are contenders for the NBA Finals. That means they have shown up to really play the game every one of six games. While most of these wins have been at home, they're losses are causing them to lose their number one spot of being the best team there is out there.

Today it seems that Boston and Miami are on their way to the top, but the team to really keep on eye on is San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs are on their way to breaking the Chicago Bulls record of 72-10. Although a major goal to strive for, with the right effort and manpower, this team could be the next team to wear those big Championship Rings.

Yes, I am one of the biggest Los Angeles Lakers fans you're ever going to find, but even I have to admit that it would be a sweet site to see the Spurs make it to the Championship. (Almost as sweet as staying at the Plaza in New York City or Gambling a couple $100's away in Las Vegas!) To my Lakers, all I can say today is, "Pull your stuff together!"

Don't think I'm not getting down on my knees every night and shooting a Prayer up to the Big Guy for Kobe and his guys. In fact I'm just gonna start getting the whole family to include my team in all their prayers. Every word sent up to heaven counts, right? Heck, if my Attorney and Insurance agents prayed, I'd get them to start shedding a couple of tears and burning a couple of holes in their pants for my Lakers.

See what's going down tonight

If this is where "Amazing Happens," I hope we see AMAZING tonight!!

What's going to happen tonight? Well, if we know anything, we all know what happens when Boston visits Sacramento, and Garnett, Peirce, and Allen march in with looks of destruction on their face. Kings have no chance of stopping the Number One Contender in the East. I predict the game will run 115-90 with Boston wiping the floor with Sacramento.

The Spurs are coming to Portland to show everyone at the Rose Garden why they are the best in the West and overall. The Spurs have found their new life in Tony Parker and Tim Duncan. Those two are just what the Spurs need to keep the winning streak going. And the Blazers? Well, I guess I'm glad to see them creep their way back up winning ladder. The recent injuries they've suffered has definitely made many Blazer fans question their loyalties. My guess is this game isn't going to help. Not really much to say about the blazers other than they are slowly coming back but they are slow because of their injuries.

My all time favorite back-to-back, 15-time-ring-wearing, electrifying, in-your-face-dunking, Los Angeles Lakers will be playing against the ever meaningless Rockets tonight. Crossing my fingers on that one! Lakers have had a hard time winning their home games lately. For some reason, when Kobe scores over 40 pts, the team loses. My hope is the Rockets can keep Kobe in the 20's and force him to pass the ball. We definitely need Kobe to be passer on this game. No doubt the Rockets will be coming in cocky, ready to take the game, but my Lakers have the Black Momba on their side, and he's ready to strike when you least expect it. I predict my boys will win this game around 105-97.
